Branch Council

Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (Victorian Branch)is governed by the Branch Council which is the organisation's highest policy and decision making body. Branch Councillors are practising registered nurses and midwives and enrolled nurses who are elected by the financial ANMF (Victorian Branch) members.

 

Branch Council comprises:

  • Branch President and Vice President
  • Branch Secretary and Assistant Secretary (x2)
  • Four Executive Members
  • Fourteen Branch Councillors

The Branch Councillors and Executive Committee members are elected for a two-year term. Branch Secretary and Assistant Secretary (x2) are elected for a four-year term. The Branch Secretary and Assistant Secretaries are full-time paid officers for their elected term. All other Branch Councillors hold honorary positions.

The Branch Secretary and Assistant Secretaries coordinate and oversee the day-to-day activities and management of the Branch which includes almost 100 staff members. The Branch represents individual members or groups of members before the Australian Industrial Relations Commission, the Nurses Board of Victoria and the courts. The Branch also represents members during negotiations with employers regarding agreements for wages, working conditions and entitlements and during disputes which may include health and safety issues, workloads, shift arrangements and ward changes. The Branch represents members in professional forums on issues such as nurse education, standards of care and promoting the nurse's role in the provision of health services.

 Secretary, Lisa Fitzpatrick

Lisa trained at Prince Henry's Hospital in 1980 and became a Job Rep in 1982. She was Branch President from 1990 to 1996 while working at as a Diabetes Educator at Prince Henry's and Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital. Lisa joined the Branch as Projects/ Recruitment Officer in 1997 and became an Organiser in 1998. She was first elected Branch Secretary in 2001.

 

 Assistant Secretary, Paul Gilbert

Paul undertook his nursing education in Bendigo in the mid-1980s and has nursed in Bendigo and Queensland. He became an ANF Job Rep in 1989 and joined ANF (Vic Branch) as an Organiser in 1991, initially in Bendigo, then Geelong before taking up the Gippsland area in 1996. In 2000 Paul became an Industrial Officer at the Branch and in 2005 he was appointed to the Senior Industrial Officer position. Paul was first elected Assistant Secretary in 2009.

 Assistant Secretary, Pip Carew

Pip graduated as a registered nurse in 1981 and has worked in public and private hospitals, day surgery, neurosurgery, aged care and family planning. She became an ANF Job Rep in 1999 when she was working in a private hospital. She was appointed to ANF (Vic Branch) Council the following year. Pip joined the ANF (Vic Branch) as an Information Officer in 2001 before taking on an Organiser role. Pip was first elected Assistant Secretary in May 2010.

President - Maree Burgess

Maree has been nursing for more than 30 years. She is a Maternal and Child Health Nurse at a local Council. Maree became a ANF Job Rep in 2007. She joined the Branch Council in 2008 and was elected Branch President in 2010.

 Rachel WeaverVice President - Rachel Weaver

Rachel has been nursing since 2007 and works as a Clinical Nurse Specialist on an upper gastointestinal and vascular surgical ward and as a Sessional Clinical Nurse Educator at a metropolitan hospital. A Job Rep and a Health and Safety Rep since 2008, Rachel was elected to Branch Council in 2009 and joined Branch Executive in 2011.

Leanne BoaseExecutive Committee Member -
Leanne Boase 

Leanne has been nursing for almost 20 years and is a Nurse Practitioner working in the public and private sectors. Leanne has a background in emergency and rural nursing. A Job Rep since 2001, She was first elected to Branch Council in 2009 and joined Branch Executive in 2010.

Stephen McKenzie

Stephen is an Associate Nurse Unit Manager in the emergency department of a major regional health service. An enrolled nurse for six years Stephen obtained his nursing degree in 1994. A Job Rep since 2004, Steve participated in the Belinda Morieson Job Representative Training Program in 2010. He was first elected to Branch Council in 2010 and to Executive in 2011.

Catie Bortolot

Catie is a registered nurse and midwife and a women’s health nurse practitioner at a major metropolitan hospital. She has been nursing for more than 20 years. Catie was a Job Rep from 1993-1995 and since 1998.  She joined Branch Council in 2004 and Branch Executive in 2010.

Jacqueline Kriz

Jackie has been nursing for more than 30 years. She is a community psychiatric nurse working in aged psychiatry at a major regional hospitall. A Job Rep since 1999, Jackie and was elected to Branch Council in 2011 and to Executive in 2013.

 Lisa Auchettl

Lisa is a midwife at a private hospital. She has been nursing for more than 30 years and has worked in the private sector for 21 years. She has been a Job Rep in the private sector since 1994 and was first elected to Branch Council in 2009.

 Tara Nipe

Tara has been nursing for more than 20 years and is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Edocrinology/Rheumatology/Renal unit at a major metropolitan hospital. Tara has been a Job Rep since 1992 and was elected to Branch Council in 2013.

 Noel Bannon

Noel has been nursing for more than 30 years and is a senior clinician working for metropolitan mental health service on the CAT team. He has been a Job Rep since 2006 and was first elected to Branch Council in 2011.

Tim O'BrienTimothy O'Brien

Tim is a clinical nurse specialist at a regional health servicel where he works in paediatrics. An enrolled nurse for 10 years, Tim obtained his nursing degree in 2000. He has been a Job Rep since 2004 and was first elected to Branch Council in 2009.

 Fiona Cresswell

Fiona has been nursing for 13 years and is a Nurse Unit Manager at a major metro public hospital. She has been a Job Rep since 2003 and was elected to Branch Council in 2013.

 Kimberley Pentreath

Kim has been nursing since 2005 and holds a perioperative nursing and anaesthetics Associate Nurse Unit Manager position with a regional health service. She has been a Job Rep since 2009 and was elected to Branch Council in 2013.

 Madeleine Harradence

Madeleine has been nursing since 2009 and works in major metropolitan emergency departments. She has been a Job Rep since 2012 and was elected to Branch Council in 2013.

 Andy Robinson

Andy has been nursing since 2007 and works as a Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Nurse at a major metropolitan hospital and an Oncology Hospital in the Home Nurse. Andy has been a Job Rep since 2009 and was elected to Branch Council in 2013.

 Deborah Holloway

Deborah is an enrolled nurse and works at a regional hospital.   A Job Rep since 2006 and a Health and Safety Rep since 2008, Deborah was first elected to Branch Council in 2011.

 Vivienne Schembri 

Viv has been nursing for more than 20 years and works as a Clinical Nurse Specialist/Case Mix Manager in the emergency department at a metropolitan private hospital. She has been a Job Rep since 2005 and was first elected to Branch Council in 2011.

 Lynette Mauger

Lyn has been nursing for more than 20 years and works as an enrolled nurse in the areas of dialysis and rehabilitation at a metropolitan health service.  Lyn has been a Job Rep since 2007 and a Branch Councillor since 2010.

 Heather Selkrig

Heather has been nursing for more than 35 years and works as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the perioperative unit of a metropolitan private hospital. A longstanding member of the Victorian Perioperative Nurses Group, Heather has been a Job Rep since 2002 and was first elected to Branch Council in 2011.

 Rita Moreno-Diaz 

Rita is an Associate Nurse Unit Manager at a long stay surgical unit at a major metropolitan public hospital. She has been a Job Rep since 2001 and was President of the Orthopaedic Special Interest Group for five years and has held the position of Treasurer since 2010. Rita was elected to Branch Council in 2011.

 Erin Sterritt

Erin has been nursing for almost 10 years and is an Associate Nurse Unit Manager in Medical Telemetry and relief After Hours Co-ordinator at a public metropolitan hospital. She has been a Job Rep since 2007 and elected to Branch Council in 2013.
